The treadmill test, also known as a cardiac stress test, is a test that determines the heart's ability to withstand external stress in the form of exercise. It's one of the most popular tests used to detect ischemic heart disease and estimate prognosis after myocardial infarction in controlled clinical settings. The pretest chance of going positive is checked on patients. An ECG is taken during rest. The progressive rise in speed and slope is explained to them. Pre-test and throughout exercise, vital indicators are monitored. If the patient develops chest pain or acute dyspnea, the ECG indicates ST elevation or the patient falls, the test is promptly terminated. If the ST depression is more than 2 mm or there is fresh onset ST depression in the recovery period, the test is positive.
